Shelf Life & Freshness
At The Australian Olive Oil Soap, every product is handmade in small batches with a focus on freshness, quality, and care.
Unlike mass-produced products, our formulations are not designed for long-term storage. Instead, they are created to be used and enjoyed while fresh — as part of a simple, mindful daily ritual.
With the exception of our soap bars, most of our products are made close to the time of your order — often within a few weeks, and in many cases, freshly prepared as your order is placed.
For best results, we recommend opening and using non-soap products within 6-9 months of purchase.
Storage & Care
How a product is stored and used will naturally influence its lifespan.
To help maintain quality:
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight
- Avoid introducing water into the product
- Use clean, dry hands or a spatula where possible
- Keep lids closed when not in use
Frequent contact with warm fingers may soften natural butters and introduce contaminants, which can affect texture and freshness over time.
What to Expect from Natural Products
Because we use minimal or no synthetic stabilisers, gentle changes may occur over time.
You may notice:
- A gradual fading of natural colours
- A softening or variation in texture
- A subtle reduction in scent from essential oils
These are natural characteristics and reflect the simplicity of the ingredients we use.
When to Discontinue Use
If a product develops an unusual smell, noticeable discolouration, or any unexpected change in appearance, we recommend discontinuing use.
