Why Switch to Shampoo Bars?

Let me share a personal story about why we began making and using shampoo bars. When my second daughter was about two and a half years old, she started losing her hair, and soon after, bald spots began appearing in various areas on her head. Her hair loss continued, and despite consulting specialists, we couldn’t determine the cause—whether it was due to stress or exposure to certain chemicals.

Around that time, news emerged about the potential health risks associated with products containing sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), a common ingredient in many commercial shampoos. This, along with the experience with my daughter, prompted me to switch entirely to handmade natural soaps, and from there, I began creating shampoo bars.

Why Choose a Shampoo Bar?

We believe that using shampoo bars made without synthetic ingredients, artificial colours, fragrance oils, preservatives, or chemical foam boosters leads to healthier hair, scalp, and overall well-being.

When you switch to a shampoo bar, you may notice benefits such as increased hair volume, faster hair growth, reduced dandruff (my first daughter can vouch for this), and shinier hair. It’s a way to truly fall in love with your hair again.

What’s the Difference Between a Regular Soap Bar and a Shampoo Bar?

The process of making both is similar, and the ingredients may look alike at first glance. In fact, I sometimes use regular soap on my hair for convenience, and the results are still great—clean and smooth hair.

The key difference lies in the formula. Because the scalp has different needs from the rest of your skin, we add special oils to shampoo bars, such as jojoba oil, camellia oil, and argan oil, which are particularly beneficial for the scalp and hair. Additionally, we include botanicals, herbs, and essential oils known for their nourishing properties.

How to Use a Shampoo Bar:

  1. Start by thoroughly wetting and rinsing your hair.
  2. Run the shampoo bar under water, then rub it directly onto your hair from scalp to ends in a combing motion.
  3. Gently massage your scalp and hair, adding more water if needed until a good lather forms.
  4. To prevent tangles, always work from the top down to the ends of your hair.
  5. Rinse thoroughly and repeat if desired. I always shampoo twice if I haven’t washed my hair daily. When first using a shampoo bar, you may need to repeat the process two or three times.

Enjoy the experience and the benefits that come with making the switch!
