Caring for Your Heels – Say Goodbye to Calluses and Dry Skin

Cracked Heels & Calluses — Gentle Care, Not Aggressive Fixes

Cracked heels and calluses are common — especially if you walk barefoot, wear heels, or spend long hours on your feet.

You may have already used our Calendula Balm as a quick comfort solution. It helps soothe and soften dry, cracked skin.
But true heel care is not about quick fixes — it’s about restoring balance and keeping your skin healthy long term.

What Are Calluses?

Calluses are your skin’s natural protection response.
When there is repeated pressure or friction, the skin thickens to protect itself.

They often appear on:

  • Heels
  • Sides of the feet
  • Under the toes

They are not harmful at first.
But when neglected, they can harden, crack, and become painful.

The goal is not to strip them away aggressively —
it’s to gently manage them.

A Gentle Heel Care Ritual

1. Soften First — Always

Before removing any hardened skin, soften your feet.

Soak for 10–15 minutes in warm water with:

  • Lemongrass Ginger Foot Soak
  • Refreshing Foot Soak

Or enjoy a full bath with:

  • Tea Bath
  • Milk Bath

Soft skin allows safer, smoother removal.

2. Remove Carefully — Less Is More

Use a tool like the Manicare Corn Plane & Blades.

Best time: immediately after soaking.

Gently glide over the thickened area.
Remove only a thin layer at a time.

Over-removal can trigger your skin to thicken even more.

3. Smooth & Refine

After removing the thickest layer, use:

  • A pumice stone
  • A wooden foot file

This prevents deep cracking and prepares the skin to absorb moisture properly.

4. Deep Hydration — The Most Important Step

Apply a generous layer of:

  • Calendula All-Purpose Balm / Calendula Tea Tree Balm
    or
  • Ginger Foot Balm

For intensive repair, wear cotton socks overnight.

This step is what truly restores softness.

Weekly Maintenance

  • Light exfoliation once per week
  • Daily moisturising
  • Comfortable footwear to reduce pressure

Consistency prevents build-up.

Healthy heels are not about perfection.
They are about comfort, balance, and care.

Start before pain begins.
