9 ways to use soap flakes.

 

1. Foaming Hand Soap

Ingredients:
1 cup soap flakes
3 litres of distilled water

How to make:
Bring 2 cups of the distilled water to a boil. Add the soap flakes and stir until completely dissolved and clear. Add the remaining water and mix well. Allow to cool. Add a few drops of essential oil if lightly scented soap is preferred (optional).

How to use:
Pour into a foaming dispenser. Store the remaining mixture in a well-labelled bottle in a cool place for refills.


2. Washing Jewellery

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon soap flakes
3–4 cups water

How to make:
Dissolve the soap flakes in hot or boiling water and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

How to use:
Soak rings, bracelets, or earrings for a few minutes. Use a soft toothbrush to gently remove dirt. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth.


3. All-Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients:
1–2 tablespoons soap flakes
1 litre of distilled water

How to make:
Boil 2 cups of the water. Add soap flakes and stir until fully dissolved. Add the remaining water and mix well. Optional: add a few drops of essential oil for scent.

How to use:
Pour into a spray bottle and use for general surface cleaning around the home.

For sinks:
Sprinkle baking soda into the drain, leave for a few minutes, spray with the all-purpose cleaner, and scrub as usual.


4. Dish Soap

Ingredients:
1–2 tablespoons soap flakes
Warm water
Essential oil (optional)
Lemon peels (optional)

How to make:
Dissolve soap flakes in hot running water in the sink. Allow to cool slightly to a comfortable washing temperature.

How to use:
Wash cups and glasses first, then bowls and plates, and finally pots and pans. Rinse thoroughly.


5. Machine Laundry Wash

Ingredients:
1–2 tablespoons soap flakes

How to use:
Add directly to the washing machine drum with clothes. Wash as usual. Suitable for everyday loads and natural fibres.


6. Laundry Powder

Ingredients:
1 cup soap flakes
1 cup washing soda

How to make:
Blend or pulse briefly in a dry food processor until finely mixed. Store in an airtight container.

How to use:
Use 1–2 tablespoons per load. Suitable for clothes requiring gentle care. Optional: add a few drops of essential oil if desired.


7. Hand-Washing Delicate Fabrics

Ingredients:
1–2 tablespoons soap flakes
Warm water

How to make:
Dissolve the soap flakes in hot water, then allow to cool to lukewarm before use.

How to use:
Gently wash delicate fabrics, wool, or garments requiring extra care. Rinse thoroughly and lay flat to dry if needed.


8. Floor Cleaning

Ingredients:
1–3 teaspoons soap flakes
5–6 litres of hot water

How to make:
Dissolve soap flakes in hot water and stir until fully dissolved. Optional: add a few drops of essential oil.

How to use:
Mop floors as usual. Suitable for tiles, sealed timber, vinyl, and laminate. Always test on a small area first.
